RIDING TIPS
Taking an Amtrak train to your destination is an easy, affordable and comfortable alternative to driving or flying. Here is some information that will help make your next trip a breeze:
Baggage
Carry-on baggage is limited to two pieces per passenger (with a few exceptions). Checked baggage service is available on certain trains at certain stations.
Seating
On most Amtrak trains, seating is on a first-come, first served basis. Once onboard, the conductor may assign seats. On many trains, business or first class is available with ample legroom and many at-seat amenities.
Dining
Most trains feature some form of dining. Many of the Illinois routes feature cafe cars with a selection of hot and cold meals. Many long distance trains feature hot meals prepared on board at breakfast, lunch and dinner. If there is a dining car, it's best to make a reservation in advance.
